The victim

Ava Lux

Wellness founder. Influencer. Your host for the weekend.

Nobody has left the retreat since. The person responsible is still here.

The Inspector's Briefing

Ava Lux is dead. Her guests are now suspects.

Everyone gathered for the AVAURA launch. Everyone watched as Ava dropped dead.

Behind the perfect retreat lie private grudges, hidden connections and secrets worth killing for.

Before the night is over, you must uncover:

  1. Who killed Ava?
  2. How did they do it?
  3. Why did she have to die tonight?

The killer is among you.

Nobody has left the retreat since Ava died. The person responsible is still here.

The investigation begins with the person on your left.

Initial Scene Evidence

The evidence is on the table.

Twelve physical clues recovered from the retreat, made to be passed round, picked apart and fought over.

No single clue gives away the answer.

Some point to murder. Others just expose something deeply embarrassing. Good luck telling them apart.

The guest list

The suspects

Twelve guests checked in. Every one of them had a reason to want Ava gone, and almost all of them are lying about something.

Bring them into the light

Connie Haven

Everybody here believes this house is hers. She knows every room, carries every key, and somehow joins in with every free treatment.

The Journalist

Hosts a popular wellness podcast. She came to record a friendly profile of Ava, but her questions are far too detailed for a lifestyle story.

He took the pictures that built Ava's public image and knows her best angles and her worst moods. They fell out badly, but she kept paying him.

She runs Ava's diary, her brand deals and every crisis in between. For years she has been the most capable person in the room.

Illustrated portrait of Jasper Moon, the spiritualist No. 08

The Spiritualist

Jasper Moon

Leads the retreat's breathwork. He is always inviting people to let go of what no longer serves them. He never says where they should put it.

Illustrated portrait of Dr. Holly Well, the doctor No. 09

The Doctor

Dr. Holly Well

The only person here with medical training. All weekend, in front of everybody, she has said she does not believe in AVAURA.

Illustrated portrait of Gordon “Gordy” Bennet, the brother No. 10

The Brother

Gordon “Gordy” Bennet

Ava's brother. They have not talked properly in years, and he was not on the guest list. He asked to see her, and she said yes.

The Entrepreneur

Max Vitals

Founder of a wearable that tracks sleep, stress and recovery. He tracks everything except whether anybody wants to hear about it.

Illustrated portrait of Serena Palmer, the masseuse No. 12

The Masseuse

Serena Palmer

The retreat's massage therapist: calm, discreet and properly trained. Ava has hired her before, because treatments make people talk.

Everyone has a motive. Everyone has something to hide. Only one of you is guilty.

Only one of them did it. You'll have to play to find out who.

A warning from the Inspector

Do not mistake a secret for the solution. Almost everybody has done something they do not want exposed.

CAUTION    CAUTION    CAUTION THE INSPECTOR
The Inspector keeps the case moving. Cast someone to play the part on their own, or hand the role to one of the players and let them steer the night while they play.

Question your friends.

Examine the evidence.

How it plays

Easy to start. Hard to solve.

The Inspector sets the scene. Then the table takes over. No rounds, no scripts. Just questions, lies and accusations until somebody cracks. And dress the part. Ava would expect nothing less.

01

Meet the suspects

Introduce yourselves, then tip out the evidence.

02

Question everyone

Poke holes in alibis. Pick your moment to reveal what you know.

03

Make your accusation

Who did it, how and why. Write it down and lock it in face-down.

04

Open the Final Reveal

Break the seal. Find out who got away with it.

If you're innocent

Dodge, deflect and protect your secrets. But ask you straight, and you must tell the truth.

If you're guilty

You're allowed to lie. Not about everything. Choose carefully.

How you win

Solve the murder, protect your secrets and redirect suspicion to finish with the strongest score.

Your Character Brief

Read it in private. Stand it up in public.

On the outside: your name and your face, for the whole table to see. On the inside: everything you'd rather nobody knew.

  • Who you are and how you knew Ava
  • Your motive
  • A secret you want to protect Classified
  • Your alibi, and three facts you must share

The case file

A whole murder in one envelope.

More than 40 pieces, all in one case file. Including the Inspector's briefing, 12 clue artefacts, 12 character briefs, 12 accusation cards and a sealed Final Reveal.
